Samhain Song

Oh Holy day of Endings
And blessed eve of Death
Hollow me out for wonder;
Cool the spark inside my breast
May silence well inside me
Veil’s mists glow in my breath
As my kin claim hibernation
So may my soul grow still and rest

For thee I shuck and burn my chaff
Useless thoughts, wants, and glitter
Consume thy off'ring and grow fat
To thrive throughout the winter

Always some die that some may live
This blessing balanced through and through
Today I offer reverence as you weigh the scales of truth
I'll fall, someday, to depthless sleep
As all are wont to do
For now, reap from me needless waste
that I might rise anew.
